Stop Snoring IMMEDIATELY by Massaging These 3-Essential OIls on Your Neck and Shoulders

I have an embarrassing confession to make. I’m a snorer. It used to get so bad that my family would record the snoring from outside the door and play it for me the next morning over breakfast. I knew it had to stop, but nothing I did made a difference. It was only until I started using this essential oil daily that my snoring stopped altogether. Before I go into what this remarkable oil is, let’s talk about what causes snoring in the first place.

What’s causing my snoring?

According to Dr. Mercola, “Snoring occurs when your throat muscles relax during sleep, your tongue falls backwards toward your throat and the walls of your throat vibrate, leading to the familiar sound of a snore.” In other words, when you sleep your mouth becomes its own natural instrument in the same way it does when rolling your R’s. As it involves your tongue falling back, snoring will occur most often when sleeping on your back. Snoring has many different causes. It could very well be a combination of them, or a single cause. Here are some of the most common causes.

  • Aging
  • Obesity
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Clogged nasal passages
  • Dehydration before bed
  • Sleep apnea

While it may just be your throat making a sound, snoring can be indicative of something serious. Snorers and the people sharing their bed often experience fatigue during the day. A lack of restful sleep can impact your body significantly. It can lead to weight gain, depression, brain damage, accelerated aging and so much more. This is why it’s important to address snoring before it leads to something even worse!

However, like in my case, making lifestyle changes doesn’t always treat your snoring. When this happens, you may need to be more proactive with your approach. Enter this amazing essential oil: the oil of sweet marjoram.

How Sweet Marjoram Works

Often confused for it’s cousin, wild marjoram (or Oregano), sweet marjoram is derived from the Origanum marjoram plant. The essential oil of sweet marjoram has a warm scent reminiscent of nutmeg and cardamom. Both the Ancient Egyptians, the Greeks, and Romans dedicated marjoram to their respective gods. Sweet marjoram can be used as a culinary herb and has been prepared as a tea shown to ease menopausal symptoms and promote the flow of breast milk in women.

The essential oil of this plant is beneficial as a remedy for a wide array of diseases such as diabetes and irritable bowel syndrome. It works as a natural analgesic, antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial, and expectorant. With such amazing protective properties, it’s no wonder that this is the best essential oil for treating breathing difficulties.

But how effective can an essential oil be for treating snoring? A study carried out in the UK at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital found that snoring could be effectively treated with essential oils. The study recruited 140 people who experience snoring. These people were given either a gargle mixture or a spray. Both of these were created using a mixture of essential oils. After two weeks, it was found that 82% of patients using the spray and 71% of those using the gargle noticed a reduction in their snoring.

Marjoram is particularly effective because it delivers support to the respiratory system. To boost its effectiveness, you can mix sweet marjoram essential oil with other oils. One particularly potent paring is lavender essential oil. Lavender essential oil is great at relaxing tension and easing anxiety. You’ll often find these two essential oils in recipes to treat snoring.

How to Use Sweet Marjoram Essential Oil

There are a variety of ways you can use marjoram oil to treat snoring.

  1. Massage

You can create a massage oil using marjoram by diluting it to a 50:50 ratio (4-6 drops) with your preferred carrier oil (I like to use Jojoba). Massage it into your chest, shoulders and neck before bed. If you’ve got lavender and lemon essential oil on hand, here’s one of my favorite recipes to ward away snoring.

Anti-snore massage oil

  • 8 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 4 drops Marjoram essential oil
  • 3 drops Lemon essential oil
  • ¼ cup carrier oil of your choice (I recommend Jojoba oil)

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bottle with an oil or lotion dispenser cap.
  2. Let this mixture sit for 24 hours and then gently rub onto your upper chest, neck and behind the ears as needed before bed.

This mixture will keep for about three months if you store it in a cool, dark place.

  1. Gargle

I like to do this after brushing my teeth before bed. Add 2 – 3 drops of marjoram essential oil to a glass of water and gargle for 3 minutes before bed.

  1. Diffuse

If you have a diffusing machine, this is a great and hassle-free way of reaping the benefits of this essential oil throughout the night. Follow the instructions as per your machine.

  1. Dab

You can also gain the benefits of marjoram by putting a drop or 2 on a q-tip. Dab this q-tip on the underside of your nostrils before you sleep.

Each of these ways are effective at delivering marjoram to your body, so I recommend doing what is convenient for your lifestyle. If you suffer from snoring like I do, stop subjecting the people you love to restless nights! Take control of your snoring with sweet marjoram essential oil.
